Business overview

The Company is a license-out drug discovery company focused on regenerative induction medicines®, developing pharmaceuticals that promote the regeneration of damaged tissue by activating, mobilizing and concentrating endogenous stem cells through its own research and joint research with universities and other research institutions. At present, its business consists solely of the single segment “Regenerative Induction Medicines®,” with product commercialization and business development conducted through license agreements and joint research agreements with external companies. Its principal revenue sources are upfront contract payments, milestone revenues, royalty revenues, joint research revenues and other upfront payments, and royalties may be generated on sales after product launch. Target diseases include dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa, acute ischemic stroke, ischemic cardiomyopathy, knee osteoarthritis and chronic liver disease, for which the Company is conducting investigator-initiated clinical trials, primarily from Phase I to Phase II, as well as global late Phase II clinical trials. As of 2024, the Company is expanding its development portfolio centered on redasemtide (HMGB1 peptide), including TRIM3/TRIM4/TRIM5 (novel peptides) and SR-GT1 (stem cell gene therapy). Through a license agreement with Shionogi & Co.,Ltd. executed in 2014, the Company has already received upfront contract payments and milestone revenues, and expects to receive additional milestone and royalty revenues as development progresses. Through joint research with Osaka University and the establishment of a joint research institute, the Company continues multifaceted development activities, including elucidation of the mechanisms of stem cell mobilization and accumulation, exploration of novel drug candidates and nonclinical trials.
