Business overview

The Group’s principal business is the development, manufacture and sale of specialty papers and nonwoven fabrics. It operates primarily in three areas: automotive-related materials, water-treatment-related materials, and general industrial materials, seeking to reduce vulnerabilities and enhance added value. Its key products include automotive-related materials such as engine filter media, friction-material base paper for clutch plates, and separator base paper for lead-acid batteries; nonwoven fabrics used as supports for separation membranes in water-treatment applications; and general industrial materials such as packaging materials for oxygen absorbers used with food, specialty papers for electrical and electronic components, heat-resistant paper, and filter paper for wire cutting. Its overseas operations include Thai United Awa Paper Co., Ltd. in Thailand and 滁州市国豊阿波濾材有限公司 in China, the latter being an equity-method affiliate. The new Shin-Komatsushima Plant was completed in March 2025 to strengthen supply capacity and improve the productivity of nonwoven fabrics used as supports for separation membranes. The Group is strengthening and streamlining its production operations through new capital investment and digitalization.
