The Group primarily forms and markets funds that invest in operating lease businesses involving aircraft, vessels and other assets. Its services are divided into 3 businesses: the Fund Business, General Aviation Business and Principal Investment Business. In the Fund Business, the Group uses investors’ contributions to purchase leased assets and establishes a structure through which it offers investors equity interests via civil-law partnerships or silent partnerships, generating lease income and gains on the sale of assets at the end of their lease terms. The leased assets consist of aircraft, vessels and other assets, and the Group aims to generate capital gains by selling them in the market. Ownership and management of leased assets in the Fund Business are conducted primarily through special purpose companies (SPCs), which are subsidiaries of the Group. The Group’s head office is located in Minato-ku, Tokyo, and it has branches in Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka. Its overseas locations include SBILS STAR MARITIME Co., Ltd. in the Marshall Islands. The Group has a single business segment, Operating Lease Business, which is subdivided by service into (1) the Fund Business, (2) the General Aviation Business and (3) the Principal Investment Business.
