Business overview

On 30 April 2026, Miraial Co.,Ltd. acquired shares in Nunotani Marine Instrument Industry Co., Ltd. and included the company in its scope of consolidation. The Nunotani Marine Instrument Industry Group has many years of technology and operating experience in marine navigation equipment, including magnetic compasses, and has supplied products supporting the safe operation of vessels to shipyards and maritime-related companies in Japan and overseas. The group’s 2 companies, Nunotani Instrument Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and Osaka Nunotani Seiki Co., Ltd., became sub-subsidiaries of our group. As its medium-term growth strategy, the company has formulated Medium-Term Growth Strategy 2028, a 5-year plan targeting fiscal 2028, and is working to expand and stabilize its business portfolio. Demand for existing products, particularly general-purpose products, has begun to recover against a backdrop of increased data-center investment for generative AI, while the Plastic Molding Business has continued its recovery trend as inventory adjustments progress. Although the Molding Machine Business has been affected by the automotive industry’s shift to EVs, sales increased slightly from the previous year and profitability improved. In connection with the Kumamoto earthquake, the company recorded ¥41 million as a disaster loss for July 2026, as well as a ¥158 million gain from the sale of cross-shareholdings. Following the inclusion of the Nunotani Marine Instrument Industry Group in the scope of consolidation, the company intends to use adjusted operating profit, excluding goodwill amortization and M&A-related expenses, as a profit metric. It aims to improve ROE and PER through the two-pronged approach of promoting M&A and pursuing capital and financial strategies, with the goal of realizing its long-term vision for its Third Founding Period.
