Independent AI venture Sakana AI announced a comprehensive business partnership with Sumitomo Corporation and SCSK. The companies aim to promote the implementation of homegrown AI in society and develop customers in fields beyond finance and defence.
Independent AI venture Sakana AI announced on 10 September that it had agreed with Sumitomo Corporation and major Sumitomo-affiliated company SCSK to form a comprehensive business partnership aimed at corporate use and the social implementation of homegrown AI. The partnership will also apply to fields beyond finance and defence, with a particular focus on promoting new services in fields requiring advanced security.
The Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported that, following the partnership, Sakana AI is expected to begin supporting AI adoption at a total of 100,000 companies, from large enterprises to small and medium-sized businesses, by using the Sumitomo Group's customer network. This is expected to give Sakana AI a large customer base and mark a first step toward accelerating the spread of homegrown AI.
Sakana AI has so far focused on AI development in finance and defence, but is expected to expand its business scope through the partnership and pursue market growth by promoting social implementation.
