Apple announced that it will hold a special event at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time on 9 September, or 2:00 a.m. Japan time on 10 September. The event will take place at the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park, and is scheduled to be available for online viewing in Japan.
The event is expected to be the first major product presentation for Ternus (ターナス), who will become CEO on 1 September, with a new product lineup including a foldable iPhone reportedly taking center stage. Although its official name has not been announced, it may be referred to internally as the iPhone Ultra.
The foldable model is reportedly expected to measure about 5.5 inches when closed and unfold into a book-style device with a display of about 7.8 inches. It is said to feature a dual-lens rear camera, with one proposal replacing Face ID with Touch ID integrated into the side button, and a design that limits its thickness to about 4.5 millimeters. The price is reportedly expected to be at least $2,000. The Japanese launch date and price have not been determined.
The iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max are also expected to be unveiled, with reports suggesting they will feature 2nm-generation chips such as the A20 Pro. Proposed new features include a variable-aperture camera, a smaller Dynamic Island and improvements to the front and rear cameras, but the official specifications will not be known until the event.
