TÜV SÜD Japan and ESPEC CORP. have launched an integrated service covering testing through the issuance of certificates of conformity under NITE's safety guidelines for battery energy storage systems. The service covers battery energy storage systems (BESS) and enables conformity assessments based on 5 resistance requirements.
As the reliability of battery energy storage systems gains importance with the wider adoption of renewable energy, NITE (National Institute of Technology and Evaluation) has established safety guidelines for systems used in public procurement and critical infrastructure. In response, TÜV SÜD Japan has been recognized as a certification body under the guidelines and will launch services for conformity assessments and the issuance of certificates of conformity.
The company will provide an integrated service in collaboration with ESPEC CORP., covering testing, conformity assessments and the issuance of certificates of conformity. BESS testing can verify reliability against 5 requirements: resistance to seismic wave impact, fire spread, rainwater immersion, saltwater immersion and falling impacts.
The TÜV SÜD Group has accumulated global experience in risk assessments and conformity assessments and aims to establish a highly reliable assessment platform in Japan as well. Through its collaboration with ESPEC CORP., the company will expand the framework to help ensure the safety and reliability of BESS used in public procurement and critical infrastructure.
