ESPEC CORP. will launch a new service in November, in collaboration with TÜV SÜD Japan, providing end-to-end support from safety testing through certification for battery energy storage systems used in critical infrastructure. The service will comply with NITE guidelines.
ESPEC CORP., a leading manufacturer of environmental testing equipment, will launch a new service to ensure the safety of battery energy storage systems used for public procurement and critical infrastructure. Its partner, TÜV SÜD Japan, will conduct conformity assessments of test results and issue certificates of conformity. ESPEC CORP. will use testing facilities in Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture, and Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, to conduct various safety tests.
The new service will comply with the "Safety Guidelines for Battery Energy Storage Systems for Public Procurement and Critical Infrastructure" established by NITE, and will set 5 requirements for safety: resistance to seismic-wave impact, resistance to fire propagation, resistance to rainwater immersion, resistance to saltwater immersion, and resistance to drops. The service is intended to reduce the burden on battery manufacturers and related businesses of obtaining certification and promote the installation of battery energy storage systems at public facilities and critical infrastructure.
