ESPEC will begin providing one-stop testing and certification services from November 2026 in collaboration with TÜV SÜD Japan, based on battery storage system guidelines developed by NITE. The service will cover the entire process from testing through issuance of certificates of conformity, supporting the safety and continued functionality of critical infrastructure.
ESPEC CORP. will launch a one-stop testing and certification service for battery storage systems in collaboration with TÜV SÜD Japan Ltd. from November 2026. The service is intended to establish a framework that meets the requirements of the “Safety Guidelines for Battery Storage Systems for Public Procurement and Critical Infrastructure” published by NITE.
The guidelines define five safety requirements in light of installation locations and conditions during disasters: resistance to seismic-wave impacts, resistance to fire spread, resistance to rainwater inundation, resistance to saltwater inundation, and resistance to falls. Demand for evaluation and certification is growing in the testing industry, including through the organization of explanatory seminars.
ESPEC will provide contract testing in cooperation with TÜV SÜD Japan, a global third-party testing organization. Multiple locations, including the Aichi Battery Safety Certification Center, are accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 by JAB, the Japan Accreditation Board, providing a high level of reliability.
Through the collaboration, customers will be able to manage the process from testing through certification as a single engagement, which is expected to shorten development timelines and simplify procedures. ESPEC also highlights its environmentally conscious initiatives, including the use of electricity generated from renewable energy sources.
