Business overview

The Group’s principal businesses are the operation of restaurants and the manufacture and sale of merchandise. Its segment structure comprises 3 divisions: the Restaurant Business Division, Merchandise Business Division and Cultural Business Division. The Cultural Business Division has already been transferred and is therefore excluded from the scope of this description. As of the end of the fiscal year ending March 2026, the Restaurant Business Division operated 5 Japanese restaurants and 8 Western-style restaurants, while the Merchandise Business Division operated 5 pastry shops. The Cultural Business Division included operation of the Hakone Glass no Mori museum, although its substantive sales correspond to the period after the transfer. The main revenue results were total restaurant sales of ¥11,022.729 million, total merchandise sales of ¥1,994.804 million and total Cultural Business Division sales of ¥552.503 million, comprising ¥263.694 million in admission fees and other revenue, ¥183.682 million in merchandise sales and ¥105.127 million in food and beverage sales. Total sales were ¥13,570.037 million. In line with its long-term and medium-term plans, the Group is working to strengthen its earnings capacity and talent capabilities. A ¥239 million provision for the loss on the closure of とうふ屋うかい in Tokyo’s Shiba district was recognized as an extraordinary loss. The targets under Medium-Term Plan 2030 are sales of ¥14,000 million, operating profit of ¥850 million, ROE of 5.0% and 5 new businesses created. The 2035 targets are sales of ¥16,000 million, operating profit of ¥1,200 million, ROE of 8.0% and 10 new businesses created, representing a net increase of 5 from 2030. Key initiatives include Company Bets, covering cost reductions and the promotion of digital transformation, as well as ESG management and risk management.
