The end of government support for electricity bills coincides with an increase in electricity wheeling charges, with November bills expected to rise by ¥1,578 from October. The additional burden on Okinawa Electric Power households is also expected to affect household finances.
Amid continued price increases, Okinawa Electric Power’s wheeling charge increase will take effect on 1 November, with monthly household bills expected to rise by approximately ¥590.
Government support for electricity bills is expected to end with bills issued in October. Combined with the impact of higher fuel prices, this is expected to push November electricity bills ¥1,578 above October’s level.
Taken together, these factors are expected to result in a substantial increase in November electricity bills, placing an even heavier burden on household finances.
The increase stems from the timing overlap between Okinawa Electric Power’s revision of its wheeling charges and the end of the government’s support program.
