Apple has announced a new Siri AI with support for Japanese. It is being rolled out through updates including iOS 27.2, adding features that provide cross-app support for screen recognition and app controls.
Apple has launched its new Siri AI in 5 languages, including Japanese. Siri AI understands personal context, recognises on-screen content and has broad knowledge, and can perform in-app actions across the system. It can extract information from messages, email and photos, and assist with drafting emails as well as editing and sharing photos.
For integration, it can work with apps including WhatsApp and Audible, and can also be used with Yahoo!乗換案内, FirstSeedタスク and Kotoba. In addition to “Hey Siri,” it can be activated using the side button, a swipe on the Dynamic Island, Spotlight integration or the context menu. Conversation history is synced through iCloud and carried across multiple devices.
Visual Intelligence enables the system to understand subjects through the camera, screenshots and keyboard shortcuts, and perform related actions. As a writing tool, it can generate drafts, revise wording, reflect tone and provide automatic proofreading. Apple says that the Apple Foundation Model operates through on-device processing and Private Cloud.
Siri AI is also being offered in beta in version 27.2 of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and visionOS, and is available in Japanese and other languages. It is currently unavailable on some operating systems in the EU. Some server-side features have daily usage limits, and broader paid access is planned for the future.
