Apple has released iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, with Siri AI officially adding support for Japanese. The beta release also expands functionality and provides more detailed configuration options.
Apple released iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2 on 26 October local time. The updates include support for Japanese in Siri AI and several other features, with multiple languages, including Japanese, added to the list of supported languages. Supported devices are the iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max, iPhone 16 and later models, iPhone Air, Duo, iPad mini (A17 Pro) and later models, and devices equipped with M1 or later chips.
The updated Siri AI can provide answers based on past conversations and suggest actions using information from Messages, Mail, Photos and other sources. It can now account for context in Japanese-language interactions, and information retrieval from Safari history and Reading List has also been improved.
On the settings side, a new feature allows apps that can access Siri to be managed through an exclusion list. The update also supports copying relevant sections from responses. The English release notes also list new features such as “Suggestions in Messages.”
In iPadOS 27.2, “Compose with Siri” is available in more situations, including when selecting text with a trackpad or selecting handwriting. Improvements to window controls, including rearranging apps and the behavior of side-by-side windows, are also included. The update can be installed from Settings > General > Software Update.
