Toyota has announced partial improvements to the Crown Sedan. The newly introduced G grade adopts a rear-wheel-drive layout and is a hybrid vehicle combining a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine with an electric motor. Its vehicle price is set at ¥6,499,900. It will launch on 21 September, and the sport-oriented Crown Sport is also expected to launch at the same time.
The introduction of the G grade is expected to make the Crown Sedan’s refined driving experience more accessible through a lower price point. Compared with the previously top-of-the-line Z grade, its price is reduced by more than ¥1 million, while the grade is differentiated by its focus on a pure driving experience without compromising its core appeal.
The Z grade will newly feature the Black Package as standard equipment, along with additional equipment expected to improve rear-seat comfort. A "13.2-inch organic EL rear-seat display" will be offered as a dedicated rear-seat option, although it cannot be installed together with the panoramic roof.
As part of the overall changes, the engine cover across the HEV lineup will be redesigned to improve sound insulation, while the aerodynamic characteristics and weight distribution will be optimized. These changes are also reported to improve driving stability at high speeds. In addition to the G grade, the Z grade is expected to receive upgraded specifications.
