UNITED ARROWS has unveiled apparel for humanoid robots jointly developed with GMO AI & Robotics Trading (GMO AIR). This is the company’s first apparel developed for humanoid robots. The sales site is scheduled to open on 20 November, when pre-orders will also begin. The price has not yet been determined.
The apparel is designed for the G1 and intended to enhance the robot’s approachable character, as the G1 is also used in office reception areas and at presentation venues. In addition to a soft light-grey setup, details such as a scarf and a back zipper on the jacket combine appearance and functionality.
The design incorporates three-dimensional patterns that account for differences in body structure and range of motion, as well as measures such as omitting the lining to address heat generation. A closable zipper has been placed on the back of the jacket to provide access to the handle on the G1’s back, while elastic has been used at the waist to adjust the fit.
At the presentation, a humanoid wearing the apparel performed a dance, demonstrating its mobility, durability and design quality. A UNITED ARROWS development representative commented that the company aims to design a new lifestyle in which people and robots can coexist comfortably.
