TABAYA Holdings' UNITED ARROWS and GMO AIR jointly developed original apparel for humanoid robots and began accepting inquiries on 20 October. After testing sizing, range of motion and heat dissipation on an actual unit, the apparel is scheduled to go on sale in stores and at events.
UNITED ARROWS designers and GMO AIR robotics engineers worked together, beginning development by examining an actual unit and testing conditions including sizing, range of motion and heat dissipation.
The design is based on unisex and uniform concepts and consists of four pieces: a jacket, pants, T-shirt and scarf. The team pursued a balance that would look attractive as clothing while avoiding interference with joints and gears, and adopted colors that blend with the robot's metallic appearance.
The project incorporated the perspective that an approachable appearance can help drive social adoption, leading to the joint development of dedicated apparel that focuses not only on the robot's performance but also on its appearance.
The apparel is scheduled to be sold on GMO Humanoid.shop and at in-person events such as pop-up shops.
