Sakata Seed Corporation announced plans to adopt student-designed seed packet packaging as the grand-prize-winning designs and sell 2 products as limited editions for spring 2027. Orders are scheduled to begin in mid-November 2026, with shipments planned from late December.
Sakata Seed Corporation (2, Nakamachidai, Tsuzuki-ku, Yokohama) has adopted the grand-prize-winning designs from its “Seed Packet Package Design Contest,” held to commemorate GREEN×EXPO 2027, the 2027 International Horticultural Expo, as product packaging. 2 grand-prize winners and 3 excellence award winners were selected.
The 2 products featuring the winning designs are the mini tomato “Carol Passion” and “Flower Paint Seed Ball Mix (spring sowing).” The Carol Passion design depicts ripe tomatoes and a child watering them, while the Seed Ball Mix design depicts a person holding seeds and flowers, expressing the connections between people through seeds.
Both products will be sold as limited editions for spring 2027 through Sakata Seed Corporation’s mail-order service and online shop. Orders will begin in mid-November 2026, with shipments scheduled to begin in sequence from late December. Carol Passion contains approximately 12 seeds per packet and is priced at ¥495, while Flower Paint Seed Ball Mix (spring sowing) contains approximately 10 grams per packet and is priced at ¥550.
