Apple is expected to announce an AI-powered home hub on 13 October. The device is reportedly capable of identifying family members by face and voice, and HomePod and Apple TV are also expected to be refreshed.
According to the latest newsletter from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is reportedly planning to announce a new smart home hub on 13 October US time. The new device may combine a movable display with a round base and is expected to feature advanced Siri capabilities.
The hub is said to use facial and voice recognition to automatically identify who is using it and switch calendars, notes and app displays according to individual settings. The HomePod mini and Apple TV are also expected to be refreshed, with a new processor handling AI-powered Siri processing.
The HomePod mini is reportedly set to receive pink and green color options. The hub's main feature is said to be a 6-inch display with rounded corners and a FaceTime camera. In guest mode, personal information would not be displayed, and the device may allow users to continue questions on another device.
As a third element, the Siri app may be displayed as a conversation in new operating systems such as iOS 27. It remains uncertain whether the display information will switch appropriately when used by multiple people. The hub may also support wall mounting and is expected to require continuous connection to a power outlet.
Apple has not commented in response to inquiries from the media. It has also been reported that delays in Apple's smart home strategy and AI integration may have affected the launch timing.
