Bloomberg reports that Apple is expected to announce the screen-equipped home hub “HomePad,” along with a new HomePod mini and Apple TV, on 13 October, with the announcement expected between the night of 13 October and the early hours of 14 October Japan time. The display is expected to measure approximately 6 inches, with the device designed for continuous power and no battery. The timing of Japanese-language Siri AI support is expected to be a key factor.
Based on Bloomberg reporting, Apple is expected to announce the three products, the screen-equipped home hub “HomePad,” a new HomePod mini and Apple TV, on the night of 13 October through 14 October Japan time. Some reports indicate that the HomePad's display specification has been revised from previous estimates of around 7 inches to 6 inches, so the specification remains unconfirmed until it is formally disclosed at the announcement.
In terms of design, the display is reportedly almost square and supported by a stand and arm reminiscent of the iMac G4. It is said to be about as thick as an iPhone, powered continuously via USB-C, and without a battery. The device reportedly has no volume or power buttons, and the display can be tilted backward and forward.
The HomePod mini is expected to receive its first update since its launch in 2020, while the Apple TV is expected to receive a new model for the first time since 2022. All three devices are reportedly being equipped with faster chips to strengthen Siri AI processing as the core of their hub functions. Pricing has not been disclosed, and it remains unclear whether the release date will be confirmed for the same day.
The timing of Japanese-language Siri AI support and the setup requirements for compatible devices will determine practical usability in Japan. Japanese-language support is reportedly being rolled out in line with an operating system update on the iPhone, but it remains uncertain whether the hub's launch and Japanese-language support will be synchronized.
