Mizuho Securities President Hamamoto Yoshiro (浜本吉郎) is pursuing a strategy to connect companies and investors and said that, following SpaceX's IPO, the firm will strengthen its role in connecting Japanese investors with investment opportunities worldwide.
Expectations among overseas investors for Japan's equity market are rising, and asset building is spreading amid a moderate inflation environment, according to the view expressed by Mizuho Securities President Hamamoto Yoshiro (浜本吉郎). It has also been pointed out that the launch of the government's new NISA program and growing interest in Japanese equities among individual and institutional investors are supporting this trend.
For SpaceX's IPO, funds raised in Japan totaled approximately ¥350 billion, with Mizuho Securities distributing about 80% of the funds in Japan. Mizuho Securities joined the lead underwriting syndicate and emphasized its role in connecting US companies' capital raising with the Japanese market.
Mizuho Securities is strengthening its services for affluent and middle-market clients while leveraging its partnership with Rakuten Securities to reach the mass market. The firm plans to build a system for providing integrated wealth management proposals to owner-managers and to standardize the quality of its sales representatives.
Going forward, the firm will deepen collaboration with the acquired Greenhill and Avendus businesses and strengthen both inbound and outbound cross-border capital flows. It has estimated that the combined asset scale of the two companies will expand to approximately ¥212.2 trillion in fiscal 2030, and is placing emphasis on its role as a bridge between the Japanese market and overseas investors.
