The BOJ's uncollateralized overnight call rate was reportedly raised by 0.25% to 1.25% at its policy meeting, with the decision made by a 7-2 majority vote. Asada (浅田) and Sato (佐藤) reportedly dissented.
The BOJ reportedly decided at its 17-18 September Monetary Policy Meeting to raise the policy rate by 0.25% and set the uncollateralized overnight call rate at 1.25%. The decision was made by a 7-2 majority vote, with Asada (浅田) and Sato (佐藤) reportedly dissenting.
BOJ Policy Board member Sato Ayano (佐藤綾野) reportedly said in an exclusive interview with The Asahi Shimbun that, based on the data, the timing was right for a rate hike that would not undermine the economy. At a meeting in Tokyo in early July, Asada Tōichirō (浅田統一郎) and Sato (佐藤) were reportedly seated on either side of Minister of State for Economic and Fiscal Policy Kiuchi (城内), and the perception that they belonged to the reflationist camp was mentioned.
