Fujifilm Holdings announced plans to build a semiconductor materials plant in the Dholera Special Investment Region in Gujarat, India. The company plans to invest approximately ¥13 billion to begin local production of high-purity chemicals and developers as it advances localization.
Fujifilm has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Tata Electronics to strengthen the partnership with its local partner, and plans to pursue local production of photoresists through a joint venture or technology licensing. The company also plans to source raw materials within India, with the aim of building a local semiconductor materials supply chain.
The new plant is intended to strengthen the materials supply system in response to growth in India’s semiconductor market. Fujifilm is also considering local production of CMP slurry and post-CMP cleaners in the future. The company has already expanded its acquired business in the United States and is further strengthening its global operations. Through cooperation with Tata Electronics, which aims to play a central role in the Indian market, Fujifilm seeks to build an ecosystem there.
