Hitachi Energy will build a transformer insulation materials plant in eastern Ontario, Canada, with an investment of approximately ¥53 billion. Completion is scheduled for 2028, and government support is expected to total up to C$50 million.
Hitachi Energy announced plans for a new transformer insulation materials plant in Canada. The investment will be C$479 million (approximately ¥53 billion), with completion scheduled for 2028. The new plant will be located in Ontario in eastern Canada.
The project is intended to meet growing electricity demand driven by the spread of AI and will produce insulation materials required for transformers. The Ontario and Canadian governments are considering support, with total assistance of up to C$50 million expected.
As part of an effort to expand production capacity in response to changes in the business environment, Hitachi Energy, a member of the Hitachi group, is strengthening its production system in North America. Completion of the plant and implementation of the support are expected to stabilize the supply of transformer components in the North American market.
