Hitachi Energy will build a new transformer plant in Mississippi. The investment will total approximately $528 million (about ¥81.8 billion), with production transferred from an existing plant and operations targeted to begin in 2029.
Hitachi Energy has announced plans to build a new transformer plant in Mississippi to meet growing electricity demand in the United States. The total investment is approximately $528 million (about ¥81.8 billion), making it one of the company’s largest investments in its sites to date. Production at the existing Crystal Springs plant in the state will be transferred to the new facility as part of the plan, increasing supply capacity.
The new plant is expected to have more than twice the production capacity of the Crystal Springs plant, helping meet rising electricity demand in the United States. Operations are scheduled to begin in 2029, with the project expected to create more than 700 jobs. Hitachi Energy has continued to make large-scale capital investments in the United States, and the expansion is positioned as part of an initiative related to its strategic investment program.
Capital investment is also under way at other US sites. In June, the company began expansion work on a large power transformer plant in Virginia, continuing its efforts to respond to growing data center demand.
