Toshiba Tec has launched a new gift certificate integration subsystem that links self-checkout terminals with gift certificate readers. The store server and POS license are priced at ¥48,000 and ¥15,600, respectively, with supermarkets, drugstores and home improvement stores as the main target customers.
On the 30th, Toshiba Tec launched the gift certificate integration subsystem, which links POS registers with gift certificate readers. Combining PrimeStore with AES-GTR from 暁電機製作所, the system automates the use, collection and tallying of gift certificates at self-checkout terminals. When introduced, the system determines whether gift certificates are genuine to a certain extent by checking them against registered gift certificate information.
The store server is priced at ¥48,000 and the POS license at ¥15,600. The system is intended for supermarkets, drugstores, home improvement stores and other retailers. Toshiba Tec plans to conduct a pilot at the Sunplaza Kitanoda store in Sakai, Osaka, from March to April 2026 to assess the effects of implementation. The company plans to sell 2,000 licenses over 5 years.
