Toshiba Tec launched a subsystem linking its PrimeStore store system for mass retailers with the AES-GTR gift voucher reader. The system automates gift voucher use and collection at self-checkouts, reducing the workload for employees.
On 30 October 2026, Toshiba Tec launched a gift voucher integration subsystem linking its PrimeStore store system for mass retailers with the AES-GTR gift voucher reader developed by 暁電機製作所. This enables the POS system to automate the use, collection and tallying of gift vouchers.
At self-checkouts, customers can use gift vouchers without calling an employee, reducing store workload and improving convenience for consumers and self-checkout users. Given the wide variety of gift voucher types, denominations and usage methods, the system automatically inputs information from the voucher through the reader and collects the vouchers.
The system also automatically tallies used gift vouchers by type, number and value and generates reports, which is expected to improve the efficiency of employee management and reporting. The integration of PrimeStore and AES-GTR is intended to improve operational efficiency.
