A press image showing the rear of the Xperia 10 VIII, believed to be Sony's new Xperia model scheduled to be announced on 25 August, has been leaked. Its design is said to be almost identical to that of the current Xperia 10 VII, and it is also expected to retain a fingerprint sensor on the side.
A press image exclusively obtained showing the rear of a device believed to be Sony's Xperia 10 VIII confirms an almost identical flat rear-panel design to the current Xperia 10 VII. The camera bar is arranged horizontally, with two cameras, the SONY logo and an LED flash lined up across it.
The current Xperia 10 VII was announced in September 2025 and went on sale in Japan on 9 October. It was the first generation to switch the rear cameras from a vertical to a horizontal arrangement and to feature a dedicated quick-capture button on the side shutter button. The Xperia 10 VIII is scheduled to be announced on 25 August. Although no model name was listed at the time of the announcement, its timing suggests that it is the successor.
The Xperia 10 VIII has been registered on Geekbench, suggesting that it may have the same chip and memory capacity as the current model. The OS is also listed as Android 16, indicating that, like the current Xperia 10 VII, it may launch with a one-generation-old OS. Sony has stated that it plans to provide up to 4 OS upgrades and up to 6 years of security updates for the 10 VII. If the same terms apply, the OS could potentially be supported up to the equivalent of Android 20.
The launch price may rise against the backdrop of higher procurement costs for built-in memory. On the other hand, changes apart from the design and chip remain unknown, and readers may also consider purchasing the current Xperia 10 VII while stock remains.
