Yoshimoto Kogyo and SBI announced a basic agreement to establish a new joint venture in the entertainment sector. They are expected to examine financing methods using digital securities and make use of SBI's content fund of approximately ¥100 billion.
Yoshimoto Kogyo announced on 14 October that it had reached a basic agreement with SBI toward a business alliance. The two companies will establish a joint venture and work to develop new financing methods for content such as films and programs using SBI's security token infrastructure.
The joint venture will combine Yoshimoto Kogyo's content and video production expertise with SBI's financial technology. STs are digital representations on a blockchain of rights such as shares and bonds, and the companies will examine a new mechanism for using them to raise funds.
The two companies will use a content fund of approximately ¥100 billion to be established by SBI to invest in video productions, performances and events, sports, digital content and other areas. Yoshimoto Kogyo plans to invest in the fund as well.
In May 2025, SBI established SBI Neo Media Holdings to oversee the group's media, entertainment and marketing-related businesses. The latest alliance is also part of an initiative to expand the content business by combining finance and media.
