Shikoku Electric Power will raise low-voltage electricity rates from November billings, bringing the standard household model to ¥9,372, a record high. The increase reflects changes in wheeling charges.
Shikoku Electric Power announced that it will raise low-voltage electricity rates from November billings. The monthly charge for the standard household model will be ¥9,372, exceeding the previous record high.
The increase reflects changes in transmission-grid wheeling charges and represents a ¥478 increase from current rates. Compared with October billings, before the government’s cost-relief measures end, the increase will be ¥1,412.
There are approximately 2.4 million low-voltage contracts. The company explained that higher prices, rising labor costs and higher interest rates were among the factors prompting the revision.
Following Shikoku Electric Power’s announcement, attention is focused on developments at other electric utilities and the scope of the impact of wheeling charges.
