On 24 September, Lexus announced and launched a partially updated version of the GX, its full-fledged off-roader. The model pursues a balance of comfort and off-road performance through improvements to chassis control, tires and the interior, while retaining the existing engine and transmission combination.
On 24 September, Lexus announced updates to the GX and began sales the same day at Lexus dealerships nationwide. The updates are aimed at improving off-road capability and interior comfort, while enhancing the core performance underpinning Lexus Driving Signature.
On the chassis side, the tire size has been increased from 265/65R18 to 265/70R18, paired with newly designed 18×7.5J wheels. This raises ground clearance, improving performance on rough terrain such as rocky roads, while also enhancing on-road quietness.
As part of the chassis control improvements, the AVS (Adaptive Variable Suspension System) has been retuned to reduce body movement on paved roads while maintaining off-road capability. EPS control has also been improved, enhancing maneuverability at low speeds and line-tracking performance at high speeds.
In the interior, second-row seat ventilation is now standard across the range to improve rear-seat comfort. The powertrain consists of a 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbocharged intercooled engine, the V35A-FTS, paired with a Direct Shift-10AT and AWD.
