Toyota has announced and launched a partially updated Roomy. Safety and usability have been improved, and display audio has been made optional, while the adoption of e-SMART HYBRID and a full redesign have been deferred to the next full model change.
On 31 August, Toyota launched a partially updated version of the popular compact tall wagon, the Roomy. Building on the current model's refinement while retaining its Daihatsu OEM background, the update overall enhances usability and safety.
Safety features have been enhanced by expanding the electric parking brake and automatic brake hold, previously available only on higher grades, to standard grades as well. The detection range of Smart Assist has been expanded, and the number of front and rear sensors has been increased to 4 each, providing greater reassurance when parking. Side airbags have also become standard across the range.
In the interior, display audio has been changed from standard equipment to an optional setting. This allows buyers to select an aftermarket navigation system separately, while helping to limit increases in the price of the base vehicle.
While pricing for the main grades has been maintained, excessive price increases have been restrained despite changes such as making audio optional. The entry-level X 2WD is priced at ¥1,830,400, the G 2WD at ¥1,989,900, the Custom G-T at ¥2,313,300, and the Custom G 4WD at ¥2,346,300.
