TDK, a major electronic components manufacturer, will invest approximately ¥100 billion to build a new plant on the former JSファンダリ site in Ojiya, Niigata, aiming to begin operations in 3 years.
TDK announced plans for a new plant in Ojiya, Niigata Prefecture, and disclosed that it would invest approximately ¥100 billion. The company aims to begin operations in 3 years and is reportedly preparing a full-scale production system for magnetic sensors and AI-related applications, centered on the Shinano River Techno Plant.
The company acquired the former JSファンダリ plant site in June and will proceed with operating the new plant as part of this investment. Alongside the use of existing facilities, it is expected to strengthen the region’s manufacturing base.
The investment is intended to strengthen the development of magnetic sensors, including TMR sensors, for artificial intelligence (physical AI) applications and establish a mass-production system. The company explained that it plans to develop this system primarily at the Shinano River Techno Plant.
