TDK, a major electronics components manufacturer, announced that it will acquire the site of the bankrupt JSファンダリ Niigata plant in Ojiya City and build the newly established Shinanogawa Techno Plant. The investment will total approximately ¥100 billion, strengthening its sensor manufacturing capabilities through the introduction of equipment and other measures.
The plant will produce TMR sensors and is expected to begin supplying magnetic sensors for autonomous-control technologies known as physical AI. Approximately 200 new jobs are expected to be created.
This is expected to be TDK’s largest-scale domestic investment, with operations targeted to begin in 2029.
