GLP Japan has announced the completion of the new Marq Osaka 4 logistics facility in Higashisumiyoshi-ku, Osaka. The facility has a total floor area of 28,612 square metres and will be used exclusively by household goods wholesaler ARATA CORPORATION. Operations are scheduled to begin in spring 2028, with the facility planned to serve as one of the largest distribution hubs in the Kansai region as GLP expands its presence in Osaka.
The four-story facility has a seismic-resistant steel structure. Its storage areas are designed without structural braces to accommodate automated material-handling equipment. The facility includes a four-level, open-ceiling automated racking warehouse area and is being equipped for automation based on the use of robots. Floor loading capacity is 1.5 tonnes per square metre, and clear ceiling height is 5.5 metres. Two freight elevators and truck bays will be provided.
For environmental performance and business continuity, LED lighting and solar power generation equipment are planned. Electrical receiving and transforming equipment will be installed at a higher elevation to reduce flood risk. The facility is scheduled to obtain ZEB Ready and BELS 6-Star certifications, and GLP also aims to obtain CASBEE certification. The site is located between inland and waterfront areas of Osaka and will also support deliveries toward Wakayama and Nara.
This project is the second building in the GLP Higashisumiyoshi-ku, Osaka, community development project. Integrated development is under way across the 56,000-square-metre site, including commercial facilities and parks.
