Battery test results for Sony's Xperia 10 VIII, scheduled to be announced on 25 August, have been released. The results indicate that it will outperform the current Xperia 10 VII but fall short of the Xperia 10 VI from two generations ago.
The Xperia 10 VIII is reported to have an overall battery life of 13 hours 26 minutes, exceeding the 12 hours 57 minutes recorded by the current Xperia 10 VII. Of the 4 test categories, video playback shows the biggest improvement, while call and gaming performance has not improved substantially. Overall battery capacity remains 5,000mAh, and the internal specifications are believed to be largely unchanged from the current model.
Based on certification information and benchmark results listed by GSMArena, the Xperia 10 VIII delivers 21 hours 58 minutes of video playback, 14 hours 43 minutes of web browsing, 31 hours 55 minutes of talk time and 5 hours 52 minutes of gaming. The Xperia 10 VI recorded 13 hours 55 minutes and the Xperia 10 V 16 hours 13 minutes, showing differences despite the unchanged battery capacity.
The Xperia 10 VIII is listed on Geekbench with the same Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 as the current model, and its rear design is also said to be largely unchanged. Given the limited improvement in categories other than video playback, optimization of the display specifications or software settings is believed to be a contributing factor.
Looking back at historical figures, the Xperia 10 V recorded the highest result at 16 hours 13 minutes, after which battery life gradually declined while capacity remained at 5,000mAh. The 10 VIII is expected to recover some ground from the previous generation but still fall short of the 10 VI from two generations ago, raising interest in the response when it is officially announced alongside pricing trends.
