A design leak believed to show Sony’s new mid-range Xperia 10 VIII has been reported, with the exterior said to differ little from the previous Xperia 10 VII. The official announcement is scheduled for 25 August JST.
Design images obtained by Android Headlines reveal the exterior of Sony’s upcoming mid-range model, believed to be the Xperia 10 VIII. The phone is said to retain the horizontally arranged camera module and Sony logo, while the color is reportedly a pale green. A recess on the right side may indicate the presence of volume buttons and a fingerprint sensor. Changes to the display and front design remain unclear.
According to a Geekbench listing, the Xperia 10 VIII is expected to feature a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 and 8GB of RAM, making it highly likely that it will retain the same chipset configuration as the previous model. The apparent lack of change in both the exterior and internal configuration suggests that this year’s Xperia 10 may amount to little more than a minor revision.
The official announcement is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. JST on 25 August. While the design and core configuration are expected to remain unchanged, pricing and other details will be a focus of the announcement. With rising memory prices in the semiconductor market affecting smartphone component costs, retaining the previous generation’s specifications in a mid-range model may be viewed favorably.
This leak emerged ahead of Sony’s official announcement, and the information that can be considered confirmed remains limited until the formal unveiling. While observations suggest that the Xperia 1 VIII flagship will introduce some changes, the Xperia 10 VIII is expected to follow a more unchanged design approach.
The editorial view is that the decision to retain the mid-range model’s design may reflect the semiconductor supply environment and an effort to ensure a smooth product supply.
