JYP Entertainment officially explained that it had not received an acquisition proposal from a Japanese investment group and that the relevant email had been processed as spam. Related reports also indicated that NEXROC Group and SVCV were considering procedures to launch a tender offer, targeting 20 November.
In an announcement on 29 October, JYP Entertainment explained that it had “not received or considered a valid proposal concerning the acquisition of shares.” Earlier reports had said that a Japan-based investment group was considering an acquisition, but the company’s official position was that no proposal had been confirmed. In addition, an email reportedly received by the company was classified as “obvious spam” under its security policy and was blocked before delivery.
In follow-up coverage, YTN reportedly said, citing a date, that “NEXROC Group and SVCV Co., Ltd. are considering procedures to launch a tender offer, targeting 20 November.” NEXROC and SVCV are reportedly seeking to build a transmedia platform in Asia’s culture and entertainment sectors, although reports also said that many aspects of their actual operations remain unclear.
