JYP denied having received an acquisition proposal in connection with reports that a Japanese investment group was seeking to acquire JYP Entertainment. NEXROC and SVCV were reportedly considering a tender offer targeted to begin on the 20th of next month.
Reports emerged that a Japanese investment group was seeking to gain control of JYP Entertainment by acquiring a stake, while JYP Entertainment denied having received an acquisition proposal.
According to the reports, the acquisition target was 25–50% of JYP Entertainment's issued shares, a level said to exceed the combined holdings of founder Park Jin-young (パク・ジニョン) and specially related parties. NEXROC Group and SVCV were reportedly considering the procedures with a view to launching the tender offer on the 20th of next month. A proposal incorporating a 30% premium to the reference share price was reportedly under consideration.
Before the tender offer, a letter of intent regarding the acquisition was privately delivered to JYP. The parties were said to have decided to make a further announcement on whether to proceed with the tender offer and on its terms if no agreement was reached after a 30-day consultation period.
According to data from the Financial Supervisory Service, as of the end of June, Park Jin-young's (パク・ジニョン) stake in JYP Entertainment was 15.37%, while the combined stake held by specially related parties was 15.82%.
