BuySell Technologies, which operates BuySell, announced that it will automate compliance checks for approximately 500,000 purchase contracts annually using AI and expects human cost efficiencies of approximately ¥300 million in the fiscal year ending December 2027.
Compliance checks for home-visit purchase contracts have been conducted by a department separate from the appraisal team. The company will now use AI to confirm contract details and customers' intentions, moving to a system in which employees handle only cases requiring judgment.
The AI implementation covers three operations. In addition to automating contract document matching, identity verification, and matching images of items, the company will expand its use of AI for approval calls and follow-up calls. This will enable it to maintain a stable compliance system as purchase requests increase in the future.
As a result of the implementation, AI alone will be able to handle approximately 45% of contract document matching, approximately 95% of approval calls, and approximately 50% of follow-up calls. In the fiscal year ending December 2027, the company expects to avoid adding approximately 50 employees compared with a scenario without AI implementation, resulting in human cost savings of approximately ¥300 million.
The company has indicated that AI will continue to handle routine checks while employees focus on cases requiring judgment, with the aim of expanding BuySell's services while strengthening compliance.
