Shinagawa Refractories has completed a newly built functional refractories plant in Anshan, Liaoning Province, China, and held a completion ceremony on 15 September. For the first time at an overseas site, it has established a system to produce functional refractories for continuous casting and mold flux at the same site.
A Shinagawa Refractories group company completed a new plant on a site in Bao'an Village, Anshan, and held a completion ceremony on 15 September. The new plant is equipped with an automated raw-material warehouse and drying and firing furnaces, and incorporates dust-control equipment and partial automation to improve production efficiency. Operations at the overseas site will begin as a result.
In addition to its existing mold flux production, the new plant has incorporated production of functional refractories handled by partner company 和豊耐火材料, establishing a system to produce functional refractories, including nozzles for continuous casting, at the same site. This will create the first integrated overseas production operation for continuous-casting functional materials and mold flux.
As a group, Shinagawa Refractories has indicated plans to expand sales in the domestic market and develop exports to overseas markets, with the aim of expanding its business in the high-value-added continuous-casting materials field. It will also advance the integration of research and development with manufacturing by leveraging the newly established R&D center.
The company plans to achieve stable operations soon after completion and strengthen customer proposals and sales activities in the continuous-casting field, with attention focused on future developments.
