SHINAGAWA REFRA CO.,LTD. announced plans to increase production capacity for semiconductor components and insulation materials, with an investment of approximately ¥850 million. The company will install and expand firing and processing equipment at three domestic sites, with operations scheduled to begin primarily in 2027.
On 22 October 2026, SHINAGAWA REFRA CO.,LTD. announced plans to invest approximately ¥850 million across the Group to increase production capacity for fine ceramics components and high-performance insulation materials, against a backdrop of growing demand for materials used in semiconductor manufacturing equipment. The company aims to capture growth in the semiconductor market driven by the spread of AI and strengthen its stable supply structure.
The company is pursuing a shift in its business toward growth fields such as semiconductors and environmental energy while drawing on its strengths as a major supplier of refractories for the steel industry. It aims to build a rapid supply structure to secure competitiveness in advanced industrial fields. As of 2026, demand for materials remains high amid the expansion of generative AI and data centers.
The capital investment covers three domestic sites. At the Bizen Plant, approximately ¥200 million will be invested to add a high-temperature firing shuttle kiln, doubling the previous firing capacity for semiconductor materials. Operations are scheduled to begin in July 2027. At the Setouchi Plant, approximately ¥300 million will be invested in new high-precision processing equipment to bring outsourced processes in-house and improve dimensional accuracy, with operations targeted to begin in April 2027.
Isolite Kogyo will invest approximately ¥350 million to strengthen PCW molding and firing equipment. PCW is important as an insulation material used in the high-temperature environments of semiconductor manufacturing processes, and operations are scheduled to begin in July 2027.
