Xiaomi has announced new models for the Japanese market. The lineup centers on 3 models with large-capacity batteries, while also introducing a 4G entry-level model and a high-end model with a subwoofer.
At a presentation in Japan on 27 August 2026, Xiaomi announced the mid-range REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G and the entry-level Redmi 17, emphasizing that both models feature large-capacity batteries. The former has a 10,000mAh battery and supports reverse charging at up to 27W, allowing it to be used like a mobile power bank.
The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G combines battery life of up to 3 days with a slim design. Although its price remains undisclosed, Xiaomi confirmed that it will be launched in Japan. Its successor, the Redmi 17, is a 4G device without 5G support, positioned as an entry-level model with a large-capacity 7,500mAh battery.
On 1 September, Xiaomi also announced the new POCO F9 Ultra. Its key features include a large-capacity 8,050mAh battery and 2.1-channel audio with a subwoofer developed in collaboration with Bose. The starting price was announced as ¥149,800.
Xiaomi’s Japanese subsidiary suggested that, while being affected by the global product launch schedule, it has yet to identify a leading candidate for its major product launch in the second half of the year. The Xiaomi 18 Fold is also scheduled to launch in China, but the view is that it is not a high priority for the Japanese market.
