Xiaomi Japan launched the new REDMI 17 and REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G on 28 August. The company is emphasizing their large-capacity batteries and long-term support, highlighting their ability to deliver reliable use over an extended period.
To mark the launch of its new models, Xiaomi has equipped the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G with a 10,000mAh high-capacity battery. Tests indicate that it can last up to 3 days and retain 80% of its capacity after 1,600 charge cycles.
For durability, the device uses Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, supports IPX6 and IPX8 water resistance, and is being promoted for its drop resistance.
The REDMI 17 features a 7,500mAh battery. The 256GB model is priced at ¥44,980, while the 4GB+128GB model costs ¥34,980, making the 4GB+256GB configuration the first to exceed ¥40,000. One of its key features is that 6 years of OS and security updates will also be provided for the entry-level model.
Xiaomi plans to revise prices for some smartphones from 4 September, raising the prices of the Xiaomi 17T Pro and POCO X8 Pro/ X8 Pro Max by ¥20,000. This is seen as part of a strategy focused on long-term use and durability.
