A group-leading solar generation facility of approximately 7.9 MW has been installed at Nagoya First Plant, and use has begun of a new power procurement model combining on-site and off-site PPAs. Surplus power will be supplied to the Gifu Plant, accelerating the use of renewable energy across the group.
From October 2026, Kawasaki Heavy Industries will operate a 7.9 MW solar generation facility at Nagoya First Plant and adopt a solar energy service provided by C Energy Co., Ltd. for its on-site PPA. At the same time, electricity that cannot be fully consumed by demand within the plant will be supplied to the Gifu Plant through Chubu Electric Power Miraiz's off-site PPA.
The initiative is intended to make effective use of renewable energy within the group, with renewable energy planned to cover approximately 25% of Nagoya First Plant's electricity demand. Approximately 1,152 MWh of carbon-free electricity is expected to be supplied annually to the Gifu Plant under a 20-year contract.
The project comprises a generation capacity of DC 7,891.65 kW / AC 5,900 kW, estimated annual generation of approximately 8,596,511 kWh, annual wheeled electricity of approximately 1,151,933 kWh and an estimated CO₂ reduction of approximately 3,808 t-CO₂. The on-site operator is C Energy and the off-site operator is Chubu Electric Power Miraiz.
The initiative is positioned as a model enabling expanded renewable energy adoption and the transfer of electricity between sites. Through broader future application, the company aims to achieve net-zero CO₂ emissions at its domestic group sites.
