Apple has announced a new range of smart home accessories, the Apple Home Collection, developed in cooperation with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. Cameras, door locks and thermostats can be managed centrally through Apple Home, with availability starting in December.
Apple announced the new Apple Home Collection in Cupertino, California, in cooperation with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. The new line includes indoor and outdoor cameras, thermostats, temperature sensors, video doorbells and door locks. Accessories can be set up with a single tap in the Apple Home app, and end-to-end encryption means that none of Apple, LG or Schneider Electric can access the data. Availability starts in December, with some products scheduled to launch in early 2027.
The new collection includes LG Electronics' Video Doorbell Wired, Outdoor Cam, Indoor Cam and Floodlight Cam, along with Schneider Electric's Smart Thermostat and LG's Smart Deadbolt Lock. All products support Thread and work with home hubs such as the iPhone, iPad, HomePod and Apple TV 4K. The cameras record video at up to 2.5K resolution, with 10-day history storage under iCloud+ plans and automatic description features.
The smart locks use ultra-wideband technology to unlock automatically when the user approaches, and also support tap-to-unlock, PIN entry and a backup key slot. Visitor calls are linked to the home's front-door system for notifications, allowing users to speak with visitors and instruct Siri to unlock the door. Two types of thermostats will be offered. They automatically adjust the temperature based on conditions such as whether someone is home, away or sleeping, and can measure the temperature in each room using multiple sensors. All products support Matter and are designed for easy DIY installation.
Apple said the entire new line shares a consistent setup and control experience. Each device supports Thread and maintains connectivity when Wi‑Fi is disconnected, while credentials are updated automatically when the home's Wi‑Fi network changes. Users can control all products together with Siri or run a “Good morning” scene linking lighting, cameras and audio.
Apple said it prioritizes privacy, with video and data in the Home app protected by end-to-end encryption so that LG, Schneider Electric and Apple cannot access the data. Video is protected through local processing and, when iCloud+ is used, stored in encrypted form for up to 10 days. Apple-operated stores in the United States are scheduled to begin offering third-party installation services from ADT.
