Apple has announced the new Apple Home Collection smart-home series. Developed in collaboration with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, the lineup will include cameras, smart locks and thermostats.
Apple announced the Apple Home Collection smart-home product line on 13 October U.S. time. Developed jointly with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, the lineup will include indoor and outdoor security cameras, smart locks, smart thermostats, temperature-and-humidity sensors and other products.
The new series features initial setup on iPhone and centralized control through the Home app, without requiring an additional dedicated app or a separate account. Video data is end-to-end encrypted so that neither Apple nor its partner manufacturers can view it. Sales will begin sequentially from December, with some products launching in early 2027. U.S. pricing starts at $199.95, depending on the product.
LG's 4 security-camera products can recognize people, pets, vehicles and packages, with video stored on iCloud+ for up to 10 days. Each camera is designed for indoor or outdoor use, while the indoor camera can automatically adjust its orientation. All models include built-in storage, and recording continues even if the network connection to a particular device is interrupted.
The LG Smart Deadbolt Lock is available for the front door, with UWB automatic unlocking, visitor notifications, remote unlocking and permission sharing through the Home app. The temperature-and-humidity sensors and smart thermostats support Matter and Aliro and operate in conjunction with hubs such as HomeView and Apple TV 4K. Apple also indicated that it does not plan to offer Apple HomeView in Europe.
