Sony will announce a new Xperia model worldwide at 11:00 a.m. on 25 August. Advance notices have been posted on the official website and official X account, while the official YouTube channel is scheduled to host the announcement as a Premiere. Users have been advised to enable notifications so they do not miss the start and can watch the announcement, allowing people around the world to check the details of the new model at the same time.
A dedicated website for the new model has been launched and can be accessed from an image in the post. The preview image suggests the available color options, and reports indicate that detailed specifications and design information are expected to be revealed at the announcement. Sony says it will formally present the product information on 25 August.
Benchmark information supports the existence of a successor model. GSMArena reported that in February 2026, a model number believed to be for the Xperia 10 VIII was identified in a device certification database, while a device bearing the model number XQ-GH54 has been registered on Geekbench. The chipset is reportedly the same Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 used in the previous model, with 8GB of RAM and Android 16.
The Xperia 10 series has previously advertised long-term support, while official announcements on the price and release timing of the new model are being withheld until 25 August. Rather than a conventional press conference, the announcement will be a digital event centered on social media and YouTube, and Sony's official Japanese X account is encouraging reactions to the new device with emojis.
