Kyodo Printing announced that it had developed an easy-peel surface laminated tube from which the printed and barrier layers can be peeled off. Designed for conversion to a monomaterial structure, it facilitates sorting at disposal and is scheduled to be exhibited for reference at TOKYO PACK 2026.
As environmental issues such as global warming become more serious, reducing the environmental impact of packaging materials is increasingly required. Kyodo Printing has worked to develop a new laminated tube with improved recyclability. For laminated tube containers previously considered difficult to recycle, the company aims to enable conversion to a monomaterial structure that facilitates sorting by making the printed and barrier layers easy to peel off.
The product has an overfilm laminated onto its surface. Its structure makes it easier to separate and sort the tube body and overfilm at disposal while maintaining high functionality. It is also said to enable an environmentally compatible replacement of conventional shrink films and labels without introducing new equipment, while maintaining barrier performance.
The company said it will continue developing products from new perspectives to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
The reference exhibition at TOKYO PACK 2026 is expected to begin on 14 October at Tokyo Big Sight.
