Kyodo Printing announced on 2 October an easy-peel laminate tube whose body is made from a single material and whose surface film can be peeled off. This is expected to facilitate sorting and recycling after use.
Kyodo Printing announced on 2 October that it had developed a laminate material from which the tube’s printing and barrier layers can be easily peeled away from the body. The new material is designed to make post-use sorting easier by constructing the tube from a single material.
Peeling off the surface film enables a monomaterial structure and could reduce the separation steps required for recycling. Monomaterial refers to a design in which a container is made essentially from a single type of material.
Laminate tubes often use multiple layers to provide barrier properties that protect the contents and an attractive printed appearance, making them difficult to sort and recycle after use. The latest development is intended to address this challenge.
Further disclosures will be needed for details of the announcement.
