Nippon Kanzai Co., Ltd., a group company of NIPPON KANZAI Holdings Co., Ltd., and Honjo City signed a memorandum covering comprehensive facility management services for 101 facilities. The service period will be 5 years from 1 April 2027 to 31 March 2032, and discussions are under way toward the launch of services in April 2027.
The facilities covered comprise 101 sites in total, including city hall, childcare centers, elementary and junior high schools, and community facilities. The company will provide a broad range of services on an integrated basis, including maintenance inspections of building equipment and facilities, cleaning, repair management and various inspection services. Management that was previously handled under separate contracts for each facility will be centralized.
The introduction of comprehensive public facility management is driven by aging facilities and a shortage of personnel to manage them at local governments. In Honjo City, nearly half of the facilities are more than 40 years old, while declining tax revenue resulting from population decreases, changes in usage demand and a decline in technical staff have also been identified as challenges. Following an open solicitation proposal process, Nippon Kanzai was selected as the preferred negotiating party.
Through centralized management, the city expects to achieve cross-facility management, reduce procurement-related administrative work, identify problems at an early stage through routine inspections, and advance the digitization and sharing of repair histories.
